What is Home For Dinner – In Your Home?

Home For Dinner – In Your Home is a fundraising campaign of Ronald McDonald House Charities, Sydney to raise vital funds so that we can support sick kids and families at Christmas and beyond.

Funds raised will go to support Ronald McDonald House Charities Sydney to keep families close while their child is being treated in hospital.

When is Home For Dinner – In Your Home?

On World Children’s Day, 20 November 2020 (or any date until 6 December 2020), you can host a Home for Dinner – In Your Home for friends and family. Make sure you follow all government recommendations for social gatherings and keep Covid-safe.

How do I sign up?

All you need to do to unleash your inner chef is go to the top of the page and click Sign Up. The fundraising campaign is open to everyone, however if you are under 18 years of age you will require permission from your parent or guardian.

Is there a cost to sign up?

No, there is no cost to register for Home For Dinner – In Your Home. However, to take part in the live streamed cooking class, you do need to raise a minimum of $80.

When will the live stream take place?

The virtual masterclass is scheduled for Wednesday, 18 November. Those who have raised over $80 will be sent the link.

What if I can’t attend the live stream?

A recording will be made available so you can check out the action at a later date. The recording will only be available from 18 November 2020.

Where do I find dinner resources?

All dinner resources will be made available to you via email. You can check out all the resources that we have put together to help you make your night a success here.

When will I receive the menu and ingredients list?

Once you have raised $80 you will be sent the menu and ingredients list so you can see what you will be preparing on the night. Please note you will not be required to cook along with David during the Virtual Cooking Class.

What if I want to create my own menu?

No problem at all! Unleash your inner chef and create your own masterpiece in the kitchen.

What if I have food allergies or I am a Vegetarian?

You don’t need to cook the menu suggested. We want this to be a fun night for everyone involved, so please feel free to cook food that you and your guests can enjoy.

How do I win a prize?

As a registered fundraiser you will automatically go into the draw to win a prize when you reach specific fundraising milestones.

How do I attend a hosted dinner?

Simply check out our Find a Dinner page and go through the list of cafés and restaurants supporting Home For Dinner. Get in touch with them and book your place! Don’t forget to donate to their team page.

RMHCS is not responsible for the organisation of any Home For Dinner events, please ensure you speak to the organiser directly and ensure you are well informed of their Covid-safe practices.

How might Covid-19 impact my Home For Dinner?

Ensure you follow all government recommendations in your state in regards to social gatherings and social distancing. RMHCS want to emphasise although it is important for everyone to have fun, you also need to ensure it is safe and that you are responsible in planning your Home For Dinner.

Should you feel that having people in your home is not safe, then please postpone your Home For Dinner until it is safe to do so, or you can always connect with your guests via Zoom, Hangouts, Video chat etc.

TAKING PART AS A TEAM

 

Can I start a team with my friends, family or colleagues?

Yes, you can set up your team and all come together and cook as a group on the day (allowing for any social distancing rules in your local area of course). It’s easy when you register, select create or join a team. Think of a fun team name and start getting your friends together and raise funds to support sick kids.

How do I create a team?

It’s simple. Just click the Sign Up button and you will be asked if you’d like to create or join a team when you get to the ‘Create Your Page’ step. Still having trouble? Just shoot us an email at supporting.sydney@rmhc.org.au and we will help you complete the set up.

How do I invite people to my team?

After your create a team, you can send pre-written email invites from your fundraising dashboard. Or, simply share your team link, there is a 'Join Us' button on the page.

SPONSORING AND DONATING

 

 

How do my friends and family sponsor me/my team?

Your fundraising page is your best friend! Supporters can sponsor and donate to you / your team directly through your fundraising page. This will be set up as soon as you sign up.

Where does the money raised go to?

All funds raised will go directly to supporting seriously ill children and their families using Ronald McDonald House Charities Sydney services. Check our About page for more information.

How can I keep my sponsors up to date?

There are a few helpful ways to keep your sponsors up to date.

  1. Your fundraising blog. You can find it on “My Page” on your fundraising hub. Post all your updates here and invite your friends and family to your page for regular updates.
  2. Send them emails straight from your fundraising page! On your fundraising hub on “My Dashboard” you will find “Get Support”. Here are able to send emails to your contacts as well as share your page directly to your socials! 
  3. Post your menu ideas, trial attempts or tips to your social media as many of your supporters will most likely be on your social networks. Don’t forget to use our hashtag #rmhcsdinner.


Can I do my own challenge?

Of course you can, just select the ‘I’m doing my own challenge’ during the registration process.

How can I use social media to promote my Home For Dinner?

Easy just use #rmhcsdinner and tag us @rmhcsydney on Facebook and @rmhc_sydney on Instagram.
