You can give a seriously ill child,
just like Elizabeth, the chance to
be with her family.

“For four months, Ronald McDonald House has been our home.  For 114 nights so far, we have been together. Sharing family meals, sleeping under the same roof, getting through tough times and making new memories.”

Elizabeth’s mum, Sharon

For Sharon, receiving her daughter Elizabeth’s diagnosis was a terrifying moment.

Her little girl had Leukaemia and needed immediate treatment. The specialist care Elizabeth desperately needed was over five hours away from their family home.

And to make a difficult situation even worse, a COVID-19 quarantine left Sharon on her own without her family network in Brisbane, during one of the hardest times as a parent.

Ronald McDonald House is providing a bed to sleep on, warm meals and a supportive network so Sharon can focus on what’s important – Elizabeth’s recovery.

“The staff and volunteers at Ronald McDonald House are lifesavers. They are my fill-in family who has created a warm, loving and caring environment for Elizabeth and I to call home every day.”

Elizabeth and Sharon hope to be home in time for Christmas this year. But unfortunately, the future is unknown.

And they aren’t alone.

Every day of every month, children like Elizabeth are diagnosed with a serious illness and need to travel far from home to get the urgent medical care they need.

Every day of every month for the past 30 years, Ronald McDonald House Charities Northern NSW has provided a “home away from home” for families in need.

You can be by their side, every day of every month.

As little as 75 cents a day can help ensure a seriously ill child will have their family close by when they need them the most. On average it costs $135 to support a family for one night.

Please become a monthly donor to help sick kids like Elizabeth, or make an urgent donation today.

You’ll be giving seriously ill children, just like Elizabeth, the chance to be together with their family.

Thank you.
