"I didn’t realise how much Ronald McDonald House can do for families like mine and how much they rely on community support to keep going"
–Nicole, Antonios' mum

One minute their lives were normal. The next they were in a different city, with no roof over their heads, and a seriously ill child with cancer.

Within days, Ronald McDonald House helped Nicole, Jim, Antonios and Gabriella settle into one of their rooms close to the hospital, so they could be together throughout Antonios’ ordeal.

Antonios' story

"My son Antonios is such a happy little boy, he loves life and never complains about anything. So last April when he told me he was feeling sick and was having trouble walking, I knew it may be something serious.

Still, I was totally unprepared for what happened next.

In the morning, Antonios had a blood test. By that evening, our entire family had been rushed urgently to a hospital in the city, over three hours’ drive away from home.

We didn’t have time to take much, just clothes for a couple of days. I had no idea how long we would be there. I had no idea what was wrong with my son.

Antonios was diagnosed with acute B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (B-ALL) and he was very, very ill. When the hospital team told us about Antonios’ diagnosis, it was completely overwhelming.

We are so thankful that Ronald McDonald House came through for us in our crisis. Within days, they had helped us settle into one of their rooms close to the hospital so we could be together throughout Antonios’ ordeal.

I am forever grateful to people like you for supporting Ronald McDonald House. You made it possible for us to be close to the medical care that saved Antonios’ life. Please donate today."
