Families from across Victoria, Tasmania, and right across Australia stay at Ronald McDonald Houses each week so they can be close to their child's bedside while they're receiving treatment - far from home.
Your regular donation will ensure they have somewhere safe, clean, and warm home-away-from-home when they need it the most.
Meika's Story
"It would have been impossible to make the four house trip home as Meika was bedridden and too unwell to travel"
Diagnosed with eye cancer in December 2018, Meike’s parents had no idea what was wrong with their once healthy daughter. At first, doctors suspected it could be a virus, stroke or Bell’s Palsy.
When doctors told nine-year-old Meika’s parents that it was cancer, they were crushed. Treatment started in January and Meika’s mum, gran and siblings moved into Ronald McDonald House in Melbourne. They stayed there full-time, while Meike received chemo & radiation.
Meika’s family settled in at Ronald McDonald House where they were able to do all the everyday things families do: cook meals, watch movies, and enjoy free tickets to the zoo or aquarium. Meika’s family became such a part of the House, that Meika’s little brother Archer calls it “home” and it’s where her baby sister first crawled, talked and walked.
The Hare family have called Ronald McDonald House home for a total of 195 nights.
About us
Since we opened our very first Ronald McDonald House in Victoria in 1986, our Chapter has expanded to provide essential services in Melbourne, regional Victoria and Hobart. We have supported sick children and their families for over 30 years.
Through our accommodation and support services, we strive to keep families together when life gets turned upside down due to a child’s illness.
Our Ronald McDonald Houses and Programs are run by a tirelessly hard-working team of staff and volunteers, aided by the generous support of our donors, sponsors and corporate partners.

OUR PROGRAMS
4 RONALD MCDONALD HOUSES
Our Houses provide a homely and inviting place to stay for parents, guardians, carers, and their siblings while their child is undergoing treatment in Victoria or Tasmania.
LEARNING PROGRAM
The Ronald McDonald Learning Program assists school-aged children with serious illnesses and injuries to catch up on missed education following treatment and recovery.

Our Ronald McDonald Family Rooms are exclusively for the families of children undergoing treatment in a nearby ward.
