Since we opened our very first Ronald McDonald House in Victoria in 1986, our Chapter has expanded to provide essential services in Melbourne, regional Victoria and Hobart. We have supported sick children and their families for over 30 years. Through our accommodation and support services, we strive to keep families together when life gets turned upside down due to a child’s illness. Our Ronald McDonald Houses and Programs are run by a tirelessly hard-working team of staff and volunteers, aided by the generous support of our donors, sponsors and corporate partners.
Staying at the House
Our Houses give seriously ill children the best gift of all – their families. Our warm and supportive home-away-from-home provides the whole family with a comfortable place to stay and peace of mind, knowing they can stay together and close to a Specialist Children’s Hospital.
Our Houses have communal spaces and ammenities to accommodate families. Our common areas allow for shared journeys and unwavering support from staff, volunteers and fellow guests, as well as much-needed spaces to relax and unwind on your own.
Who is eligible to stay with us?
Keeping the family together can be extremely tough without support, which is why we offer accommodation for parents and families with seriously ill children. Our House also supports mothers going through high risk pregnancies.
We try to accommodate the needs of families where we can, but this is always subject to availability. Priority is given to regional families whose children have been recently diagnosed, seriously injured or who require emergency treatment, as well as families of premature babies.
To stay with us the first time, you’ll need an initial referral from your local doctor, specialist, social worker or patient travel office. For subsequent visits, you can enquire with us directly.

House Programs
Ronald McDonald House Charities Victoria & Tasmania relies on the work of our volunteers and the financial support of individual, corporate, community and trust and foundations monetary support.
Without their generous contributions, we would be unable to keep our doors open to families in need 365 days a year. Thanks to our giving and caring community, we’ve been able to continually expand our operations to help more families and communities from all over Australia.
There are many ways you can contribute to the RMHC VIC & TAS mission.
