PAY IT FORWARD - Employee Engagement Program

Lending a hand to support sick kids and families

Families that stay at Ronald McDonald House Sydney have their world turned upside down. They have to drop everything, come to Sydney Children’s Hospital so their seriously sick child can get the immediate help they need.

We believe in trying to remove the stresses that come with quickly moving your life to focus on the health of your child – that includes providing a place for them to stay, providing a home cooked meal (breakfast, afternoon tea or dinner) or providing a nice clean home that families would appreciate after a long day spent beside their child’s hospital bed.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

For 365 nights a year, over 800 families will stay at Ronald McDonald House located in Randwick each year. This home was built so we can keep families together while their seriously ill child gets the vital medical treatment they need.

Our Employee Engagement Programs gives teams or groups a hands-on opportunity to Pay It Forward and directly support the families during their time of need. After an induction and tour of the house, so you can learn more about the service we offer to keep families together, your team can cook a meal for breakfast, afternoon tea or dinner or assist us in cleaning our House for families staying at Ronald McDonald House.

THE BENEFITS FOR YOUR TEAM

By participating in one of our programs, you are sure to deliver better staff engagement, improved reputation and you’ll be having a positive impact on the local community.

Cooking a meal for breakfast, afternoon tea or dinner or cleaning the House for families at Ronald McDonald House is an amazing and unforgettable team-building experience that demonstrates your organisation’s commitment to Corporate Social Responsibility in a meaningful way.

Bring your brand values to life by aligning your organisation with a leading children’s charity located close to Sydney’s CBD that makes a difference and supports seriously ill children and their families. Your team can Pay It Forward and supporting in making our House a home.

SUPPORT OUR FAMILIES DURING THE COVID-19 CRISIS

The health and safety of our seriously ill children and families are our top priority and we are taking precautionary measures. During the month of March and April, we have cancelled all of our employee engagement programs (Home for Dinner, High Tea Party, Working Bee and Big Brekkie).

However, our families still need your help.

You can still take part in a special Home For Dinner edition (for $500) or High Tea Party edition (for $250) and support our families by making a special donation to the House. All the funds will go to purchase food for the famlies on the specific night you have selected. We will be creating a special take away menu which will include items such as pizza, BBQ chicken and salad, thai or other ready made food to make the lives of our families easier during this important time.

We also do have a pancake machine you can use and offer families with fruit, syrup and ice cream. Also add something extra like juices, fresh fruit, hash browns and perhaps some yogurt. You will be serving around 30-40 people with breakfast being served from .745am-9am.

THE IMPACT YOU'LL MAKE

When a child is diagnosed with a serious illness, it impacts the whole family. Lives can be turned upside down. That’s why we provide a range of programs to help families stay together and close to the care they need.

Our Ronald McDonald House provides a home away from home for families who often leave everything with just the clothes on their back to get the immediate medical help their child needs. Located just steps away from the hospital, we provide a place to rest for families in need 365 days a year.

Every year we welcome over 800 families into the home and provide accommodation we also offer a learning program for the kids and our volunteers put a home-cooked meal on the table for our guests three times a week.

We also provide our Ronald McDonald Family Rooms (Royal North Shore, Sydney Children’s Hospital and Wollongong Hospital) which are run by volunteers and provide a welcoming space for families of children undergoing treatment in a nearby ward. Offering a break from the clinical and stressful environment in the wards, families can have a tea or coffee, freshen up with a shower, enjoy a quiet space for a much-needed nap and siblings can have a bit of fun in the dedicated play areas.

Ronald McDonald House Sydney is an independent charity that relies on the work of our volunteers and the financial support of individual and corporate donations to provide the support that we do.

Your time and contribution will help keep families together at a time when they need it the most.
