ABOUT THE RIDE

The RMHC Ride to the Cape will leave Cairns by bus to start riding when you reach the dirt North of Laura. While the adventure is all about the riding, there will be planned breaks at all of the best attractions on the Cape, from swimming holes, to waterfalls, historical monuments and areas of cultural significance. You'll even chase the infamous Barramundi near the Tip of Cape York if you wish to get up early enough. To finish in style, you'll celebrate by staying in luxury accommodation on Thursday Island for the final night. Check out a sneak peak below!

THE ROUTE

CYCLING ABILITIES

Fitness and your ability to ride a mountain bike all day is key to your enjoyment and ability to complete the ride. You need to be a cycling enthusiast with above average fitness. The riding is amazing and very much mountain biking – particularly on the Telegraph Track with its crystal clear creek crossings and flowing trails.

Your bike needs to be of a cross country/marathon nature and fitted with tubeless tyres (compulsory). It needs to be serviced beforehand.

THE IMPORTANCE OF RONALD McDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES

In-hospital Ronald McDonald Family Room which provides the comforts of home within Townsville University Hospital

Ronald McDonald Learning Program across North Queensland and Northern Territory which allows children that have suffered serious illness to catch up on their schooling by providing access to 40hrs of free one-on-one tutoring

Ronald McDonald Family Retreat in Palm Cove which gives families with a critically ill child or families suffering from a bereavement the chance to take time out together for a family getaway

Hospitality Cart in Mount Isa which provides practical support and comfort to seriously ill children and their families right on the hospital ward
