About The Ride

Ride for Sick Kids Kangaroo Island
22 - 25 October 2020

From 22 to 25 October 2020, the Ride for Sick Kids SA will see a team of more than 30 riders travel over 500 kms, starting on Kangaroo Island and finishing at our House in Adelaide.

Now in its 9th year, the Ride for Sick Kids SA team will ride together to raise funds and awareness for the programs of Ronald McDonald House Charities South Australia.

Stage 1 - Thursday 22 October - Kangaroo Island Loop
The team will be riding through some of the worst affected areas by the bush fires earlier this year. But the great news is that the area is already starting to recover and the bushland is starting to come to life once again. On the way back into town the team will divert north, up to Emu Bay, before arriving back to Kingscote.
Distance: 150km, Elevation: 825m

Stage 2 - Friday 23 October - Kangaroo Island Seal Bay Loop
Today the team will head out to Seal Bay, where they’ll have incredible views of the extraordinary coastline and sea lion colony.
Distance: 118km, Elevation: 654m

Stage 3 - Saturday 24 October - Kangaroo Island to McLaren Vale
Today is the “Queen Stage” as the team will tackle the most challenging climbs of the tour. However the rewards are some of the most spectacular views available in South Australia. There will be some tired legs as the team rolls into McLaren Vale.
Distance: 163km, Elevation: 1,873m

Stage 4 - Sunday 25 October - McLaren Vale to Adelaide
The ride from McLaren Vale to Adelaide will stick to the coastline, but there are still a few rolling hills to get over before the team arrives back at Ronald McDonald House SA.
Distance: 114km, Elevation: 975m
